We’re going to Canberra

Next week is Homelessness Week and Housing for the Aged Action Group (HAAG) are taking a delegation of older women to Canberra where over 25 meetings have been arranged with various Senators, Ministers, and MPs.

Maggie and Linda from the HOW Movement will be representing Queensland and are looking forward to a busy week, along with delegates from WA, NSW, and VIC.

On Thursday 10 August from 12.15-1.15pm you can join Maggie and Linda and the rest of the delegation online at the Parliament House launch of the latest report: “Ageing in a Housing Crisis”. The report delves into the data from the 2021 Census to demonstrate the full extent of homelessness and housing stress amongst older people across Australia.

If you click RSVP to register, you will be sent a link to join. The event is also being recorded by the ABC and will be available online in due course.

This will be the HOW Movement’s first direct contact with Federal Politicians and we are delighted to have been given this opportunity by our peers at HAAG (Housing for the Aged Action Group)
